Pezography
is a series based on nostalgia and whimsy as seen through the
contemporary lens of artist Matthew Winghart. Each larger than life
image is a portrait of the childhood icon displayed beside it.
Composed with reverence, humor, and ambitious attention to detail
this series offers the viewer the rare moment to embrace fun in their
every day.
Of the series the artist says...
“As a child my mom always bought me
Pez.
I didn't intend to be the Pez guy...
How it happened:
My parents
were moving from my childhood home and shipped this box filled with
dozens of Pez dispensers and other childhood objects. Upon opening the box I
had the thought- each Pez was cool and each had its own identity,
how they aged... they each had scrapes and imperfections, that's
important to the series; they aren't meant to be perfect... they
aren't brand new, they're meant to have that played with feel & look to them.”
